Here’s a collection of some of my work.

Social Media

@Axios on Instagram

During my time at Axios, I worked with the design team to create new Instagram templates that reflected the news landscape on the platform and the brand’s tone and voice. Templates include explainers, breaking news, and illustrations.

@latimes on Instagram

As an audience engagement editor at the Los Angeles Times on the core social team, I help with strategy for our Instagram accounts. Here, we focus on news that is relevant to Californians and people interested in California. We utilize storytelling that is native to the platform, including quote cards, strong photography and IGTV.

Search Engine Optimization

At The New York Times, I had the chance to work with various desks across the newsroom to create strategies to optimize articles for search and track the progress of our content through analytics reports and competitive analysis. I have used data softwares such as Chartbeat, CrowdTangle, SEMrush Chartio and similar products.

This includes tracking top and rising search terms on Google Trends around top coverage, creating coverage strategies for breaking news events, workshopping headlines and URLs with various desks to improve search visibility and tracking competitors to find opportunities for search growth.

I have also done work to increase our readership through intentional linking, the act of adding short, conversational sentence links to articles that provide similar coverage.

Newsletters

At The New York Times, I have contributed to The Morning Briefing, a rundown of information around the world to start your day, edited by Chris Sanford. I have written backstories, which are short stories in the newsletter that highlight important events that have happened on that day. Here is an example of a backstory I have written, which appears at the end of the newsletter.

In college, as the editor in chief and co-founder of The Underground, I was responsible for writing our site's newsletters, The Underground Daily (you guessed it, a daily newsletter), The Underground Weekly Wrap Up (every Friday) and coming soon, RISE Up, our arts and culture newsletter. Click below to check out some newsletter examples:

Oh, and I also write a personal newsletter about the intersections of journalism, tech and product.
